Stud Establishment
In 2000 Chrissina and Bruce were fortunate enough to start their own farming business and buy Ngakouka, a 161ha property on the Ponatahi Valley near Martinborough in an equity partnership. Ngakouka Hereford Stud was established there. They bought half of Bruce’s parents Tarureka herd which consisted of foundation females from Hui Hui, Ngarewa and Braxton studs. Don and Doreen Goodall were instrumental in helping Bruce and Chrissina in their stud set up and Don was visionary in the initiative to export quality NZ bloodline embryos from Ngakouka to Cascade Herefords in Australia, owned by Karen Arnott.
In 2006 Bruce and Chrissina purchased the balance of the Taruraka herd from Bruce’s brother, James.
Bruce and Chrissina have since relocated in their own right to Mironui Station east of Dannevirke and held their first on farm bull and heifer sale in 2017.
