Our Business Partners

Ngakouka Herefords works closely with local business and industry. We enjoy a positive relationship with our partners including:

The relationship with these people has been built over a period of time. They fit with the culture that we work hard to foster and nurture. Like minded people and companies that work together in support of each others’ businesses are valuable for any business wanting to forge ahead and be successful.

We enjoy the synergy created by these partners and look forward to welcoming more on board as our business grows.

In 2018 we formed an advisory group and asked key people to join us at Mironui to ‘chew the fat’ on where our diverse operations were heading. Mironui was about to embark on a 24 month roading and forestry project, along with running the stud, sheep breeding, and looking at other revenue streams and opportunities.

Willie White, our then BNZ bank manager; Raymond Burr, Kevin Rooke, and Andrew Jennings join us on a 3-4 monthly meeting cycle and toss ideas around to move the business forward. We’ve found this to be incredibly valuable as this group of people have given us the confidence to tackle the big task of constructing 11kms of roading ourselves and believing in us to do it our way. It was important to us that the road went where we wanted it to go to serve a dual purpose - 1 was to get to the forestry blocks and 2 was to have it improve accessibility to the whole farm and be an asset to Mironui in the future. This involved the purchase of a digger and bulldozer and a world of enthusiasm.

We were also to embark on an enormous learning curve with environmental factors and new regulations coming into play. We needed to be responsive to the environmental impact of the roading and forestry and this has been of significant importance at both governance and ground base levels. The group has kept Bruce and Chrissina accountable and forward thinking so they are able to front foot developments and embrace regulations in a positive manner.

Working closely with John Turkington Forestry Ltd, in particular Kim Speedy and Miles, we have been able to recognise areas needing specific attention to create positive environmental impacts particularly with preventing run off into rivers. Replanting, alternative species planting and riparian planting are now being planned for winter.
