Breeding Principles
Here at Ngakouka Herefords we work on the belief that ‘the cows work for us, we don’t work for the cows’. Apart from mating in the first two cycles, and calving, the cows have sheep under or in front of them all year.
Farming Sustainably
Bruce and Chrissina believe in putting the land first in all their decision making. This means not over-grazing in summer nor winter to allow the natural biological process to thrive in seasonal extremes.
Stud Establishment
In 2000 Chrissina and Bruce were fortunate enough to start their own farming business and buy Ngakouka, a 161ha property on the Ponatahi Valley near Martinborough in an equity partnership.
